QUESTION:
Which one of these (Blog, Twitter and Polyvore) are least useful for you regarding self-expression?
ANSWER:
Kelly: Polyvore is the least useful for me. I'm not interested in being even more of a consumer than I already am - and that's how Mr. Tainter's 'optional reading' article describes the site. Fashion is cool, but I couldn't afford it as a hobby. Better to go real shopping. I twitter (strangefrogs) and I'd be interested in blogging at some point... if I found the right things to say. Blogged during the summer '07 China trip and that was a great way to capture the experience.
Amanda: I would have to agree with Kelly that Polyvore is the least useful. I think it's a really fascinating concept and that the collages are really fun to look at, but I don't think that I personally could really get into it. I also don't really see the difference between Twitter and Facebook status updates, so I don't use that either. I used to have a Xanga account back in Middle School, which was basically a blog, and really enjoyed it. I used it mostly to keep in touch with friends and read about what they were up to. It has been years since I used it but I could see myself blogging again someday.
Jordy: For me, I don't find any of these sties useful for me. Before this class, I had never heard of Polyvore. After looking at it, I find it the least useful but still interesting. Like Amanda, I think the collages are creative and artistic, but because I'm not into fashion, they are nothing more than interesting pictures. I'm not really in to blogs either. I think they are a good way to communicate for people who use them on a regular basis, but I don't have a reason to use them. Twitter is another site I don't use. Personally, I do not see a point in updating everyone about your current activities.
Katherine: I dont think any of these are useful for me. I did not know what polyvore was before this class, but now that I have looked at it, it seems very interesting. Mainly the site I use the most is facebook, because it is a social network and I like communicating with my friends through the network. For twitter, I think it is very unnecessary because a majority of it is people commenting that they are going to take a shower or go to the grocery store. I like what Mr. Bigenho said about using it for information and new ideas, but I dont think everyone uses it for that reason.
